Gladiator sandals have become a craze of fashionable community. Just a few years ago it was declared to be one of the must haves accessories for women and that gave a good boost to the footwear industry. You can see it everywhere right on the pages of any magazine or walking down any street you won’t fail to notice these eye catchers.

It’s essentially a T-strap sandal with many laces going around the feet and ankle. Of course various styles progressed from couture high fashion to street casual.

The way it’s named suggests that this kind of footwear was inspired from gladiators. It’s indeed intriguing how a skilled, and toughened fighter got associated with women’s fashion and be a trendsetter. Gladiators are fighters trained to kill solely for entertainment. Obviously, their shoes form an important gear of their dress and thus need to be designed to bear the abuse of all battles they fight. But modern women, use gladiator sandals to make a fashion statement- walking with a pair of gladiator sandals means being a winner. But the inspiration came from a bloodline of real winners. Gladiator shoes represent a winning symbol, today as well the ancient Roman times.

Only the brave and hostile could be chosen for being trained as gladiators. At the height of its glory, the Roman Empire had an army that conquered vast foreign lands, and in the process captured many prisoners of war. On being turned into slaves, these men were sold in the market. The best of those were sent to Rome for being trained as gladiators. The same held good for condemned criminals who had lost their citizenship rights. Another category of gladiators was paid volunteers and like any other professional athlete was trained in gladiatorial schools with ruthless discipline. However, unlike other athletes, they were allowed to gain more pounds as a heavier built helped to provide protection to their internal organs from blows and hits of the opponent. For a brief period women were also allowed to fight in the arena. Roman emperor Septimius Severus, ruler from 193 to 211 CE, granted them the permission, before they got banned in 200 CE.

Even if each game happens to be their last, they taste the glory and are heroes for a well-fought fight. Even those who can survive for 3 to 5 years are granted freedom.

It is believed that the first Roman gladiatorial fight took place for a funeral rite in 264 BC.Marcus and Decimus, the two sons of Junius Brutus, commanded three pairs of gladiators to fight one another to honor the spirit of their dead father. This tradition was performed every 5 years to honor the life of the dead.

The growing popularity of gladiatorial games enables the owners and trainers to make more profits. Even politician sponsor these games I anticipation of wining votes, though the interest of the crowds is confined to the game only. Romans spent lavishly keep alive this vicious game at its best. For seven centuries, packed amphitheaters have been exhibiting this spectacle that ultimately became symbolic of Roman culture.

Times have changed and we may not approve of the Roman’s lust for blood. Yet, the gladiatorial combats have evolved a rich heritage that is worthy of being treasured and celebrated. Gladiator sandals are undoubtedly symbolic reminders of values portrayed by gladiators such as courage and strength that never get out of style.

With the gladiator sandals becoming among the hottest trends and the availability of a lot of footwear for the modern woman in Roman kind of designs in many different materials , it’s time that women be aware of all that’s available to make a calculated decision.

Gladiator Sandals Do Not Flatter Shorter Girls

Many shoe designers and fashion gurus admire gladiator sandals and hold these in high esteem. Nevertheless, the not so tall girls should better not patronize these. Despite their having gained a lot of popularity they don’t go well with girls of shorter height or smaller feet.

The limitation with these sandals is its design incorporating many straps, which make them rather bulky looking. It’s not difficult to understand that the wider straps give sandals a heavier look. Wearing such bulky shoes draws unwanted attention to a woman’s feet.

Every wearer of such a shoe should question herself if she would like her feet to be the focal point of her outfit. Primarily, any bulky shoe makes a woman’s feet look larger and that surely doesn’t help to add to her appearance.

Comfortable Brown Leather Gladiator Sandals

This summer, brown leather gladiator sandals are certainly coming back to the scene. Their popularity seems to be overtaking that of the famous Birkenstock Sandals. The strappy shoe takes women back to the historical times of the Ancient Rome and Greece. Generally, they are designed to have a T-strap with many straps going over the foot. In the past most of these were available in brown and black color. But these days you get them in a lot of many fashionable shades and colors including bold and bright colors, metallic colors and in a variety of fabrics apart from leather, the usual material.

Gladiator Sandals on Sale

It may be worthwhile to add here that such shoes are not necessarily very expensive. If you are not too sure of the trend or don’t wish to spend a whole lot of money, you should surely look for good deals.
Any woman who failed to buy a pair of gladiator sandals in the last season shouldn’t lose heart as the designers are still dishing them out. They are one of the most preferred sandals this season. Almost every famous designer is offering these sandals. You need not necessarily spend a lot of money buying these sandals.

Cute Designer Gladiator Sandals

This design of footwear particularly became more popular ever since Hollywood super star Lucy Lui patronized high heel gladiator sandals. As already pointed out though designer gladiator sandals with high heels are not the best option for short women, everybody got carried away by the height of gladiators’ heels.

Though every fashion professional considered the height of these heels to be ridiculously high, most of them don’t seem to be inclined to back off with fall offerings that push the wearer’s foot to an angle nearing ninety degrees! A woman is practically walking on her tip-toes as her naturally horizontal foot strives to remain vertical. Is that a fashion trend or a significantly hazardous pair of shoes? The individual woman has to decide herself.

Beautiful High Heel Gladiator Sandals

A high heel gladiator sandal is the most sought after footwear of the season. The design of high heels also includes T-strap and a number of side straps. These get along too well with blue jeans, long or short skirts, shorts and other dresses. Moreover, they come in a wide variety of colors, though professionals suggest using brown, black, silver and bronze colors.

Undoubtedly, every woman has at least one pair of these sandals for exceptional occasions. Yet, sandals with high heals even if used for short intervals of time can be hazardous to one’s health. Nevertheless, high heel gladiator sandals are rather cute. As a matter of fact they are the hottest item of the current season.

Must Have Gladiator Sandals Boots

It’s indeed difficult to strike the right balance between the useable, elegantly styled sandals with multiple straps. Their design is such that goes equally well with dresses crops and shorts too.

No doubt gladiator sandals boots are one of the most up-to-date trends on the red carpet. Many women thought that this wouldn’t remain in fashion at the end of the last season. Contrary to such expectations, if one looks at the award ceremonies and collections for the current season, they seem to be getting still more popular.

Let us know your opinion on this-will this trend continue to remain hot or is it nearing its end? Please write us your comments. Thanks!
